Description
The Kupo 8x8 Butterfly Frame is the standard rig for holding silks, nets and scrims overhead on set, whether you're softening a hard source, lowering contrast on a bright day exterior, or matching ambient light levels across a large area. Built from heavy-duty 30mm square aluminium tube, it holds up to daily production use while staying light enough to rig and strike quickly.
The slot-and-pin locking system means it assembles and breaks down without tools, and the tubes pack away inside the frame itself for storage and transport between jobs. Ear-type frame supporters mount securely to grip stands, giving you a stable overhead platform even with a large diffusion or negative fill panel up.
It's genuinely flexible on set: the full 8x8ft frame reconfigures down to a 4x4ft frame when you need a smaller rig for a tighter space or a more localised effect. Note that the frame itself doesn't include fabric, silks, nets and scrims are separate items. Request a quote to build your full lighting kit.
FAQs
Does the frame come with silk or fabric? No. The frame is the rigging structure only, silks, nets and scrims are separate line items, so let us know what diffusion or negative fill you need and we'll add it to your kit list.
Can it be reconfigured to a smaller size? Yes. The 8x8ft frame breaks down into a 4x4ft frame, so you can scale it to a tighter space or a smaller diffusion setup without hiring a separate frame.
What do I need to rig it? You'll need c-stands to support it, generally at least two for an 8x8ft setup, plus whatever silk, net or scrim fabric you're diffusing or flagging with. We can help you build the full grip package.
