The Alexa Mini LF is ARRI's answer to a very specific question: what if you could have the image quality of the full-size Alexa LF in a body compact enough to go anywhere? The result is one of the most capable cameras available for hire — a large-format sensor paired with the Alexa's legendary colour science, in a chassis that fits on a gimbal, mounts to a drone, and handles just as comfortably on a shoulder rig.

The jump from Super 35 to large-format is immediately visible on screen. The larger sensor produces a shallower, more cinematic depth of field at any given aperture, a wider field of view with any given lens, and a quality to the out-of-focus rendering that's simply harder to achieve on smaller formats. Paired with ARRI's native LPL glass — or Super 35 lenses via the included PL adapter — the Mini LF gives cinematographers access to an enormous range of looks and focal lengths.

Like all Alexa cameras, the Mini LF's colour science is the benchmark against which everything else is measured. Our kit is supplied ready to shoot, with CFast 2.0 cards, baseplate, rods, and viewfinder included. V-mount batteries and a wireless follow focus are available as optional extras for productions that need them.

What lenses are compatible with the Alexa Mini LF? The Mini LF features a native LPL mount, which is compatible with ARRI Signature Primes and other LPL-mount lenses. The included PL adapter gives you access to the full range of PL-mount cinema glass, including Ultra Primes, Master Primes, and third-party PL lenses — though PL lenses will cover a Super 35 image circle rather than the full large-format sensor. How does the Mini LF differ from the standard Alexa Mini? The key difference is sensor size. The Mini LF's large-format sensor is significantly larger than the Super 35 sensor in the standard Mini, producing a wider field of view, shallower depth of field, and a different quality to the overall image. The Mini LF also uses the newer LPL mount natively. Both cameras share ARRI's colour science and the same compact body form factor.

Are V-mount batteries included? The kit includes a V-mount battery plate, with V-mount batteries available as an optional extra. A full battery kit can be added to your hire for hot-swapping throughout the day — just mention your requirements when requesting a quote.

Can the Mini LF be used in wet weather? Yes. The camera body is weather-resistant, and we recommend requesting our rain cover for outdoor shoots. It's a reliable choice for UK productions where conditions can change quickly.
