The FX9 has become one of the most requested cameras in our fleet. Offering a full-frame 6K sensor, fast hybrid autofocus and dual base ISO, the camera is Netflix-approved, meeting their technical and workflow requirements. We've used FX9s for years across all types of productions, from high-end commercials, to documentary work, to corporate and loads of TV shoots.

Our kit comes professionally rigged with the Vocas shoulder rig, making it comfortable for extended shoulder shooting. We've equipped it with a V-mount battery plate and 15mm rod system, allowing you to run heavier cinema lenses and build out your setup as needed. The autofocus system is particularly impressive - it combines fast, accurate subject tracking with eye AF technology, making it reliable even for run-and-gun documentary work.

The camera's weather-sealed body, combined with our included rain cover, makes it ideal for UK productions where weather can be unpredictable. The multi-camera capabilities  (including genlock and timecode support) make it perfect for interview setups, live events, and any production requiring multiple perfectly synced angles. What productions is the FX9 best suited for? We've supplied the FX9 for all kinds of productions including documentaries, commercials, corporate videos, and TV shoots. It's been our go-to camera for multi-cam shoots ever since it first came out. The combination of image quality, autofocus, and versatility makes it suitable for most professional applications.

What lenses are compatible with the FX9? The FX9 features a native Sony E-mount with autofocus compatibility across all Sony E-mount lenses. The included 15mm rods also support heavier lenses when used with an appropriate adapter. Let us know your lens requirements when requesting a quote and we can provide you with an appropriate adapter if needed.

Are V-mount batteries included? The kit includes a V-mount battery plate, but V-mount batteries are available as an optional extra. V-mount batteries provide significantly longer runtime than standard camera batteries - typically 2-4 hours of continuous shooting depending on your configuration. A v-mount battery kit (4-5 x batteries) can be added to your hire for hot-swapping throughout the day. Just mention your requirements when requesting a quote.

Can the FX9 be used in wet weather? Yes. The camera is weather-sealed and our kit includes a professional rain cover for additional protection. This makes it reliable for outdoor UK productions where weather conditions can change quickly.

Is the FX9 suitable for multi-camera shoots? Absolutely. The FX9 features genlock and timecode connectivity, allowing multiple cameras to be perfectly synchronised. This makes it ideal for interview setups, panel discussions, live events, and any production requiring multiple perfectly synced angles. We can provide multiple FX9 bodies for multi-camera productions.

What formats and frame rates does it record? The FX9 records in XAVC-I codec up to 4K DCI with 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling internally. Frame rates range from 1fps up to 60fps in 4K, and up to 120fps in HD for slow-motion work. It also supports 16-bit RAW output with an optional extension unit. The camera records to XQD cards which are included in our kit.

Do I need experience with the FX9 specifically? If you're comfortable operating Sony cameras, you'll find the FX9 intuitive. The menu system is straightforward and the autofocus capabilities make it forgiving. For productions requiring experienced crew, we'd be happy to supply an operator familiar with the camera.

How far in advance should I book? The FX9 is one of our most popular cameras, so we recommend booking as early as possible, particularly for weekend shoots.
