For I / AM House, the Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team's fan event in Soho during British Grand Prix week, we supplied a 3-camera package, a full lighting kit, and a crew of 3 camera operators and a sound recordist to TV production company ZigZag Productions.

The Brief

I / AM House was built around the team's home race, celebrating the places and communities F1 fans call home. Skepta headlined the opening Housewarming night.

ZigZag, whose credits span the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Netflix and Sky, needed a camera, sound and lighting package to film it.

Our kit and crew started on July 2, the day before the event opened, and stayed through to July 5.

The setup called for 3 matched cameras, clean sound on several people at once, timecode sync across everything, and lighting that could be built and rebuilt from one day to the next.

The Crew

We supplied 4 freelance crew members for all 4 days:

  • 3 x camera operators
  • Sound recordist

How It Came Together

The job ran across 4 days, with the kit and lighting packages adjusted to fit each day's setups.

3 FX9s with G Master zooms gave the team matched cameras on every setup, so footage from each angle cuts together cleanly.

The 16-35mm covers wide shots in tight spaces, and the 24-70mm handles everything from mid shots to close-ups.

Sound was built for more than one voice at a time. 5 radio mics and a 416 shotgun fed the 788T, with IEM receivers so the team could listen in.

The Lockit boxes kept timecode matched across all 3 cameras and the recorder, so the edit could line everything up without guesswork.

The lighting kit mixed bi-colour and daylight Aputure fixtures with soft, flexible sources.

Light Domes and BI-FLEX panels give soft, flattering light on faces, and the Amaran mats tuck into spaces a standard light won't fit.

The Cine 24" and MD-QUAD let the team watch all 3 cameras on one screen, and the data wrangling laptop kept footage backed up as the day went on.
