Red Bull GMT

We supply kit to London production company Dosed for Red Bull GMT, Red Bull's music series made for YouTube.

This is ongoing rather than a one-off job. Every shoot is different, so the package changes each time, but it's always built around a multi-camera Sony setup with live switching and ISO recording.

The Brief

Each GMT shoot is a multi-camera music session, filmed for release on Red Bull GMT's YouTube channel.

Dosed needed a package that could cover performers from several angles at once, record every camera separately for the edit, and adapt from one session to the next.

Because the series is ongoing, the kit list changes slightly each time. The package below is from a recent Mic Flex Special shoot.

How It Comes Together

The package is built for music performance, with several cameras rolling on the same session.

The FX6s and FX3 cover the space between them. Wide G Master glass, including the 14mm and 16-35mm, keeps performers in frame even when the cameras are working up close.

The 28-135mm power zooms reach in for tighter shots, and the 8-15mm fisheye adds a more extreme angle.

Every camera feeds the ATEM SDI Extreme ISO over 12G BNC.

The ATEM lets the team switch live while recording each camera's feed separately, so the editor has every angle to work with afterwards. The Teranex distribution units split the signal to wherever it's needed.

The Easyrig Vario 5 takes the weight on handheld camera moves, the O'Connor head on the tall legs gives a high, steady angle, and the magic arms and Gorillapod put cameras in the spots a tripod can't reach.

The Solidcom kits keep the crew on comms throughout.
